It's a jacket, right? If yes, I would sew in the round, as BrendaP said, it tends to look better

I finally finished my Origami bodice pattern. Took me the whole morning. Not that it's very hard to do, I'm just rather slow :)
Sewed a front to test the look. Not bad me thinks.
I was planning on using scuba to make it. It doesn't hold creases all that well, so I was thinking of using some woven interfacing to give it a bit of stiffness. Anything wrong with that idea?

It's looking good, Jo. :)

Most people would avoid attempting such a complicated pattern piece.

Sorry, I can't advise on the scuba/interfacing question. I don't do enough dressmaking to be able to help.

Sandra.

Well, I went ahead and interfaced it. Worst case...I ruin some fabric and learn something, right?
Sewed up the front, went great. The interfacing gives scuba more structure and stability. It is a bit bulky in some places, I'll see if I can do some seam grading.
Gotta cut & sew the back, hopefully will get the bodice done today.
Sandra, I find it's the best way to learn. Fingers crossed it's smooth sailing until the end :)
Edit: Sewed the back and...well, let's just say I'm not pleased. Will probably have to sew up the darts as there's WAY too much ease on top.

Well this is where I'm at with the JapJacket .....

And now...To sleeve or not to sleeve, that is the question

It does seem an awful lot of fabric to stuff in quite a tight hole.

This is a picture of the collar when it looked really good ...

but since I've sewn down the facing its not as crisp looking.  :(

That is SO lovely, Imi  <3
Regarding the sleeves, gather them a little between the notches before sewing, it will help :)

measure armscyes and sleeve cap,  ????!!!  :S Yer whaterme what ???

The armscye is the curved edge of the bodice (top part of a garment) which goes from the shoulder seam down the back to the side seam and then up the side of the front to where it began at the shoulder seam.

Sleeve cap is the top bit of a sleeve and the top edge of it is stitched to the armscye.

When did armholes become armscyes?  I will continue to call them armholes.

Apparently quite a long time ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armscye  :D
I don't think it matters much how we call them, they reffer to the same thing anyway.
