As soon  as I went to put the thread away I realised I hadn't typed the word Gimp, so this thread is called
Strutts  Super Glace Gimp - cotton thread.

My own laptop is away being seen to (and don't I miss this) so have crept in to use my husband's laptop instead and it keeps on doing silly things to me.

Glacé threads have a coating on them, usually wax to or starch, make them extra smooth and are usually used for sewing on buttons or hand quilting.  They can be quite springly when unwound from the reel.

Gimp thread really just means is a thick thread.
