Well tomorrow I'm going to unpick the gathering around the neck and do by hand
as I can't get it to gather properly. Will be adding a deep black band to the hem and black yoke. Haven't made clothes for absolutely yonks so bare with me on this one. Fabric is a bit whacky, so won't dare wear it further than the front door
I might get arrested if I go out in this, should act my age really and make something for a podgy 50year old (soon to be 51) but hey who cares what other people think

That's a pretty wacky fabric, and you know what, I like it! Very unique design indeed.

I think the fabric is lovely and you absolutely ought to wear it outside your home - I speak as one of similar age and shape, trying very hard to fight the tendency to do whatever I can to go unnoticed...
Yeah - let's act our age!

Thanks ladies
Might venture out after dark, in disguise maybe
I tend to try and go un noticed if possible but might have a bit trouble if I'm wearing this dress.

Great fabric - definitely to be worn outside the house and with pride.

It's lovely fabric - I'd wear it and I'm a good few years older than 50. Wear it, and I bet you'll get compliments.

I really like the fabric too and think you should wear it outside. It's great. I would wear it and be happy wearing it anywhere
It's a nice style. Hope the gathering works out the way you would like it too.

I think it's fabulous material, I'm nearly 64 and quite conservative with my clothes but that's so fab I would definitely wear that.
Dare to be different

I must admit that it's not a fabric that I would normally pick up, spotted it in the fabric store and even though I tried to ignore it, I seemed to be drawn to it so picked up about 3mtrs, so plenty spare.

Love the fabric, Diane. As the advert says: act your shoe size not your age! Either way I'd wear it (and I m older than you... and I probably have bigger feet too!)

Well I'm having an absolute mare getting that neckline in
I've had to stop before I get too stressed out, not even sure I've put the first piece in the right way round? Will not be making anything with a gathered neckline again that's for sure, just can't get it to lay right. This is the first item that's going to go in to an unfinished pile and I'll come back to it later. How frustrating.

Team it with grey or black pants and you're good to go, even white would look great for a holiday outfit.

Well I finished the dress, not too happy with the neckline so will adjust that later, but hem is on and all seams overlocked.
Will pick my next piece of clothing very carefully, no more gathered necklines for me.
