Well done.   :)
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Finally settled on a fabric - saw the lavender samples that I order from Spain and they were gross - looked like an old lady colour so we are back in blue again and it arrived today.  Final decision is to have the over blouse made in white. That way it'll be more of an all rounder for her rather than the blue. I ordered that today from Spain and some white cotton poplin for the rest of the skirts. Got to think about seam trims - might make bias from the patterned stuff and insert bands in between the white skirt tiers - I'll see.  The fabric is totally lovely - a beautiful stretch cotton satin with a lovely hand and it was cheap as chips at about 4 euros a metre - what's not to like?  Now just have to make the thing.

Glad you got it worked out with her! My first thought was an official ballroom competition dress, which her aversion to nude was surprising, but sounds like it is for non competition dancing. I would love to see and hear what you come up with once it' all made!

No, this is just ( I say "just") a Feria dress - like a party dress and it's seen close quarters.  Rest of the fabrics are on their way now, one lot should arrive tomorrow from Paris, but the stuff coming from Spain will take longer.

Made a rough toile for the bodice , now all on hold until I see her in September.

Love that fabric catllar!  What colour are you making the frills?  All out of the main fabric, or perhaps alternating with either/and plain blue and white?

There are 3 top layers and an under frill which is visible, so I'm thinking first layer where it joins the bodice in the print with a plain piping at the seam, then 2 plain white layers edged with a piping trim made from the print, and edge the final layer in , don't know yet - blue lace or something, and then the under frill which is visible in the print. that way it will visually close the skirt and won't look like a petticoat.

If I alternate  plain blue and white  layers it runs the risk of looking like a bit fairground and predictable  so I think I'll just stick to the plan.

Was wondering why my spotted plumetis hadn't arrived from Spain yet  so prepared a sh...y email to fire off. decided to check bank first to see if it had been debited - no joy. Check account and - oops - there it is still in the basket. hadn't pressed the darn button!

Plumetis arrived a couple of days ago and I want to eat it - it's gorgeous. I might just have to order some in other colours.  I made a toile of the dress and I have put it away now until I see her mid September for a fitting. If she loves the fabric half as much as I do I'll be pleased. I sent her photos of it draped on the mannequin.

She loves the fabric - hooray, So I've started  and previously mentioned skirt plan went out the window - made the skirt up with three patterned frills broken up with a narrow crochet trimmed bias piping. Have a lot of fabric to play with, so I might make another option and see what looks best.

Getting there - finally decided on all patterned frills. Didn't like the look with the white inserts - deckchair came to mind. Made the under layer that sticks out below the skirt but I didn't like it, so it's coming out tomorrow and I plan to remake it in a plain blue that I bought today down in Spain. I'll take some pix tomorrow.
