Alternatively, I do have a piece of this (including the selvage), not big enough to be 2 but I could buy more.  :D  I love it but do you think it's too busy?

No I like that...

you can pick a dark blue or dark purple for your dark,
the light turquoise for your background and maybe a fushia for one of the others.....
a mottled batik that has at least two of the colours could be number 5.

yes that could look very dramatic.

I have just put together the wall-hanging size and its ok, but not too my taste.
I'm making it as a cot quilt so have used pastels....Bleugh!

It came together very quickly......less than a morning!
That's because you do all the prep in the first 6 sessions.

I might add to the wall-hanging size because it is presently sq and I need a rectangle for a cot quilt.

Salvage?  Selvage - my phone is an idiot.

Pastels?  Oh, no, that would never do.

I would love to have a go at this but I'm useless at putting together fabrics, I may have a look around  some shopping sites and see what I can come up with before committing

Me too, Didi, but I don't let it put me off.  I'll probably end up buying three time as much fabric as necessary, just in case.

Thanks for letting us see your fabrics, Imi.  That really does help.

Thanks for showing your choice of colours and fabrics, very pretty.  I am wanting to do this but a bigger one (hopefully  -<) but I haven't looked at fabric yet.  I hope I will be able to catch up  8)  :snip:
Willing but not always able :)

I'm looking at Kaffe Fassett quilts on Pinterest right now and I'm thinking I may head in that direction.  Probably blue, purple, teal type colours.  Maybe some KF fabrics and some batiks. ...  Back to Pinterest!

Well I have gone and done it !! Been on Doughty's and bought some fabric just for the crib size to start me back gently. They are very "safe" colours and all from the same collection just because I'm not confident enough with colour to mix and match - maybe one day !!

Love your fabric Pearl. I can feel a trip to my local fabric shop coming on. I'm not good at putting fabrics together either, but maybe start with the feature fabric and work from there? Not sure what size to do though, I don't need another cot size, and don't really like wall hangings. Is it going to be QAYG Iminei?

Choice of fabric is the hardest part of a project!

I feel your pain... I know what you are going through...believe me!

I have made this quilt before..in some KF and batiks...
It was fantastic!
but if I showed you a pic I would have to kill you!!!

Be bold ladies ...
Choose a strong patterned Fabric for no 2,
and something that picks up on at least two of the colours in no 2 for fabric no 5.

Ooh ooh ooh, now I am really drooling over the thought of KF and batiks together.  Not sure what size, might go for the big one.  In a big bold way.

What if one of the fabrics had a stripey quality to it?  Would that be particularly inadvisable for some mysterious mystery quilt reason?

Ok, no stripes!  Glad I asked!
