This is my new project. I have had this fabric for some years but chickened out of tackling it every time I got close to making it up! But now I’ve finally bit the bullet. The colours are black and brown with narrow lines of white and yellow.

That's an interesting pattern with it's sort of yoke.  Unusual, I like unusual.  I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes.  :)

Darn it! I’ve just noticed I’ve cut out 2 of the under sleeves the same way. It’s not easy to tell the right side from the wrong but there is a difference. I hope I’ve enough left to recut it.

Some progress made on the coat - the front side and back panels stitched and the in seam pockets in. I’ve tacked the 2 piece  sleeves to the underarm but I cant try it on until I’ve added the yoke to it as it is attached to the upper part of the sleeves. Unfortunately the photo is upside down - don’t know why it does that.  ><

Looks fab. All the seams are nicely matched. If right and wrong sides of the fabric are similar could you get away with using your wrong side under sleeve? Although you have probably cut a new one by now.

Yes I have cut a new one now Tamnymore, I did consider using the first one as it was, and I think I probably could have got away with it but I had just enough to recut it. The odd thing with the fabric is that there are times when I struggle to tell the difference and other times when it seems glaringly obvious with a slightly fuzzier look to the right side and a flat look to the wrong side. I think it might have bothered me if I hadn’t swopped it.

Just managed to try this on now I have tacked the yoke on. A long way to go yet, with lining yet to do etc.

Looks great And I see you've done the sleeves and yoke on the bias. Very nice.  :D

Thanks all, I feel that it looks big - you can’t tell from that photo but when it turn to the side, it is quite voluminous in the back. I know nobody wants a coat that is tight but I wonder if for another version I would take it in slightly. I will get DH to take another photo tomorrow from the side.
