Is Ponte Roma always shiny?!
« on: November 15, 2017, 16:58:02 PM »
I`ve never bought any Ponte Roma as I thought it might be like old fashioned crimpolene so I was interest to see some that a friend had.  It was ok but decidedly shiny and looked like it might be rather warm to wear (synthetic)

I`ve had my eye on this:-

but am not sure now.

I've never seen shiny ponte roma before. I don't think that looks shiny, I think it's just the way the white light is hitting the folds. It looks textured to me.

I've not seen shiny Ponte Roma either.  You can probably get it but no, it doesn't have to be.

I`m hoping to make McCalls 7538 view D  dress
https://www.sewessential.co.uk/misses-crossover-band-top-dresses-mccalls-pattern-7538

would Ponte Roma be suitable for that or do I need something that would drape better?
  (any suggestions would be great)

The pattern instructions recommends jersey with 2way stretch and 50% stretch on cross grain, so ponte might not have enough stretch, although it mentions interlock, which again, some don’t have a lot of stretch.

Having said that, the ponte you’ve posted, has spandex/Lycra so may be suitable. Unfortunately that’s one of the difficulties of buying online. I would email and ask them or ask for a sample.

I can't comment about Ponte Roma, never having used it. But I  <3 that pattern.
