Pattern Ease

Today I have been giving someone a lesson on how to read a pattern envelope. This is probably teaching granny to suck eggs but wondered if anyone could make use of this handout I did for her on garment ease.

Oh that's very useful! I have saved it in my patterns folder. Thank you.

Thank you
@sewmuchmore
: I never paid attention to ease as I sewed 'fit and flare', but the fit could have been better and maybe I should have taken a proper look.

If you are sewing a fit and flare dress, or one with a circle skirt, the amount of "ease" in the hip is irrelevent, but it will still have ease in the bodice.

I sewed 'fit and flare' so that I wouldn't have to worry about accommodating my prominent rear and wide hips, but I have a narrow ribcage and a relatively small, high waist and this is where fitting problems occur.
