Preparing to cut out a T shirt from yellow and white ribbed cotton jersey, I am rather tired so I will go slowly, I might also cut out the pink and white one if I feel OK, the fabric is very stretchy and lightweight, perfect for those hot summer days to come  0_0

I am here, only cleaning out my machines first after all the debris caused by massive amounts of overlocking on my mattress covers, changed needles in both the overlocker and sewing machine, and given both a drink of oil - yes I can oil my sewing machine that I used as it is a 1975 Bernina 830 Record.  Decided to put away some of the threads I have had out for various items, and then trying to keep all my newly acquired pins/needles/tape/elastic/wonder tape all in one place ready for my venture into sewing with knits.  Need to try and put some other items that have crept into the sewing room away as well as I am struggling for space in here at the moment.  Then I need to move my sewing cabinet out a little and put away behind this some huge boxes of family history stuff, once that is done I can then try and get the cutting out table put in position in another room ready for action.

For those who are interested I bought a small hand held vacuum cleaner especially for cleaning my machines, and the little sucker tool is brilliant at getting in and around the overlocker - very satisfying seeing it suck up all the debris and the ordinary household vacuum cleaner's tools are too big and clumsy.  The one I bought was called Mini Portable Vacuum Cleaner and the other name on the box is Honk - yes it is from China and I found this on Amazon just over a year ago now, around £15-£25 - well worth it too, also useful for cleaning around the laptop's keyboard.

I do enjoy my Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons in the sewing room, at least it makes me pay attention to some sewing of some sort.

I have just done the gathering on a nightie in fabric that sounds exactly the same as @Silver Rose 's - and I have it in pink as well!

(Other than that I've been dealing with a cherry tree that has just been delivered - it was supposed to be 5-6ft and bare rooted, but is, in fact, 12ft tall and potted - and covered in tiny cherries!  The leader had been partly broken to get it into the packaging, which doesn't really matter as the tree is already well formed, but I have splinted it and taped it anyway.)
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

No sewing this afternoon.  I’ve been too busy seeing to washing and sorting early dinner.  I’m now cooking it.  I might have some time early evening when DH has gone out.

Here I am in the SR.
I have finally managed to patch the patches that I was struggling with yesterday.

The quilt currently measures 60 x 60. I need to make it 60 x 72. I have some sashing to go around and am thinking of extending the other 2 sides using HST's if I have enough fabric scraps.  The ones I'm thinking of using are 5 ins x WOF mostly.  I want to add a bit of zing so  ::thinks::

If it is the same @Acorn  it will be lovely and soft for a nightie,  I got mine from  Croft Mill £9 per metre Jolly Jersey, although I did see it for a lot less on Pound Fabrics  :( after I had bought it of course!  After a short coffee break I cut out the pink one as well. Enough for today.

Yes - that's it!  Mine was from Pound Fabrics I'm afraid!   :[  It is beautifully soft.  I was tempted to go back and get it in other colours too, but the pink and yellow are much the nicest.

I keep trying to post a photo but it's saying it's invalid.
I only have a mobile as my tablet has decided not to work.

I'm doing buttonholes on my Katherine Tilton top..It has a placket so you do the buttonholes on that before attaching the placket to the front of the top. Much easing than sewing the buttonholes onto the front of the garment. My first buttonhole is inexplicably larger than the others.   ::thinks:: Thread running a bit low.....

Love that stripey fabric @Acorn and @Silver Rose. Gosh that's cheap on Pound Fabrics. I fancy the green stripe - but would I look like a Celtic supporter in it?

I've managed to alter the doggie onesie pattern and cut out a new version, though I had to piece it. Not got much further than that.

Yay! I joined in! With another break for taxi duties. I've embroidered the repair café wording in a nicer font. Wound the bobbin with embroidery thread as the bobbin thread always pulls to the surface with text. Put a new needle in, within a few stitches it had fallen out. Anyway, this will be the back of the flag  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

A nice steady prep day for me.

Sewing (alterations):

Side seam of chinos unpicked for splicing in a wedge to expand the waistband. I just cut down alongside the seam on the first side, which was an absolute bear to sew. Suggestions on here led me to try a different route for the other side.

I have still cut through the waistband, rather than unpick all of it and expand it at centre back, but I have unpicked the seam from waistband to pocket, so I will only be driving the needle through single thickness fabric.

I have also cut out the wedge to be sewn in. I might pin and tack it in place tomorrow.

Tangling:

The first of the beige socks is ready to start the toe section, and the first self of the striped shortie socks, is ready for me to graft the toe shut. As soon as the needles come free, I'll cast on the second sock of each.
