Using up stash

I'm making a trench coat and knew I had a piece of a rather soft sage green denim in the stash. I bought it a clue of years ago at The Cone Exchange in Harrogate, brought it home, washed it and popped it in the stash to wait for the perfect project.

Dug it out last night, shock horror, it's only 36" wide. Must have been woven years ago!

I am going to play around and see if I can manage to fit everything in but doubt it.  DH thought he was being comforting when he said if I couldn't it would make a rather nice shirti for him
Might have to make a return trip to the Cone Exchange to see what more goodies I can dig up

We take the wide fabric for granted now don't we? I had a similar shock with some stuff I bought in Cambodia a while back, never even considered it would be anything unusual!

If you buy pre-cut imported fabric (think African wax fabrics), not only may it be no more than 36" wide, but it will also be sold by the yard.  :(
