Did you reverse the swirly FF fabric to get the pale colour??

How ever you did it ..... Off into the BOM HOF you go now......

Yes Fajita, Im afraid your fabric choice didn't help you here.... in fact it reminds me a lot of those colourblind tests!!!

The background should have been a plain solid or blender in a completely different colour to the ribbon with the twist should be a darker shade of whatever you chose for the ribbon, if you see what I mean.

Im surprised you could piece it actually very confusing, but I bet if you used some different fabrics following the guidelines above and having a look at others blocks you would feel a lot less Nyeh about it!

Still it is a block of the month, so off into the BOM HOF you go ....

I had another go.
Better fabric choice this time.
My brain still finds it hard to twist.

That is so much better ... well done for persevering!

I often have duff first blocks due to colour/ pattern etc (they usually end up on the back if I persevere and make that particular block into something)

So off you trot into the BOM HOF ...again

Do you mean hard to do or hard to see?
The 'twist' jumps out more when it is vertical because it is natural, like a hanging ribbon.  When it's horizontal it just looks like a row of shapes (which it is of course)

As plosh says look at it hanging t'other way and as I say...squint! It's very unattractive but it's easier to see tones and shading.  :ninja:  0_0
