Title: Which needle?
Post by: fajita on May 13, 2017, 14:00:40 PM
Which needle should I use on my machine for sewing leather look material.
I have a leather needle, but wonder if it's still useful for leather look?

The best way to check a needle is to pierce the fabric with it.  I do this a lot when I'm not sure.  If it goes through easily without popping as it goes in, it is normally suitable.  I would think a leather needle would work, especially if the fabric is a thick as leather.  You don't want it to make too big a hole.  :vintage:

Thankyou, Lilian.
I had a little play and my normal, universal needle in conjunction with a walking foot worked well.
I've been having a play at making little coin/money bags. Made drawstring pouch, zip pouch, Velcro fastened and fold down the sides type. None of them are fit to be seen, but it's been a useful exercise.

That sound interesting, a little drawstring pouch is always useful.  I make them for all sorts of things, especially one for my foldable walking stick.  Also for the different bits and bobs for various machines.  You must show some when you are happy with the result.  :) :vintage:
