Title: Hello again
Post by: Syrinx on May 29, 2017, 09:46:12 AM
Hello again guys.

I've only just discovered the new haunt. Been missing the combined knowledge and wisdom of TSF especially as I have some new projects that aren't quilts that need doing!

Looking forward to joining the group again :)

Was soooo pleased to see your moniker on the awaiting approval list Syrinx...

I remember you from the old days and it is so much easier to send you straight through The Sewing Places Portals than trying to discover whether its porn, drugs or Fraud that is your chief interest!

Haha! Fraudulent porn maybe ;)

It's lovely to be back and to see so many recognisable names as well as the new ones. The quilting section seems to be going guns blazing. The only one I have going is still my spiral flying geese - still hand sewing, hence the stall - not my favourite way to sew!

I'll be running amok in the dressmaking bits soon as I have gone completely mad and I'm making myself a riding habit. If I can quilt I can make a fitted, tailored traditional side saddle habit right? How hard can it be to make a jacket  :S

I've got some beautiful fabric with peacocks that I had imported from the US that I've been planning quilts around. I'm still not sure whether to do 2 quilts, one with all the peacocks and blue and one with the most gorgeous creepy rainbow colours and tree centre panel. I'll have to dig them out and photograph them for you all. The fabric is almost too nice to cut up!

Sewing and embroidery machines both need a service though before all this fun stuff can happen and I may just have to sneak to my neighbours workshop and borrow all her amazing industrial machines...and her skills!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome back. It's really lovely to have found you all again!  0_0

I'm crazy I know!

Lots of pictures :) I'll be borrowing one of my trainer's horses and mine haven't been trained to a side saddle yet (summer plan!). My trainer did say I'd probably end up having to make the skirt apron multiple times as the fit and hang changes depending on what saddle and horse you sit on! Even if the saddle is the same and as you said, it's all about the elegance! and a wonky skirt is a big no no!

Elegance is the plan anyway...whether I can pull it all off... ;)

Fitting for saddle and horse takes "fit" into a totally different league but it does make sense as a wider horse with a large shoulder would lift the skirt quite high compared to an ex racehorse. Enjoy the journey as they say, both on and off the horse

Hello and welcome from me too. How lucky to have a sewing neighbour with industrials!  :)
