I've been given a stash of silk ties.
I've deconstructed them.
So now I have some silk material.
First thought was to do them in a tie shaped circular/spoke pattern, but I'm not keen. I think I might have decided to use them as 'material', rather than 'ties'. So now Looking for a project.
Watch this space!

Lots of ideas here (https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=upcycle+old+neckties&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwir1-eXz_nWAhXC0RoKHRVmD_8Q_AUICygC&biw=1280&bih=672).

There are some lovely colours amongst them, Fajita.
Love the fit and flare little dress in shades of dark blue on the link UR put up.

Gosh! there's a lot of ideas there. :snip: :snip:

Wow yes you can do a lot with these! I've never deconstructed silk ties but I have come across a fair bit of silk twill clearly intended for ties at the Adamley silk mill sale which they hold near Macclesfield once a year. I have a plan to make some sort of technicolour dream coat with the pieces. Perhaps you could do the same, Fajita!

I too have a collection of silk ties. Unfortunately they're still residing in DH's wardrobe. :S He never uses them - perhaps he wouldn't notice if they went missing.

Loving the footstool..

Good plan, Kenora. He might not notice if they went missing, however he might notice if you started wearing them!

There are a couple of amazing quilts! And a nice small handbag I liked. :)

I couldn't resist and this called to mind a discussion on modifying straight jeans when the bell bottom trend arrived in the 70's.

I've just had a look at the link UR, some great ideas. Charity shop visit anyone???

Loved the Christmas wreaths, but I have ENOUGH Christmas decorations

Saw some lovely silk ties in a WB charity yesterday ... was seriously thinking about sending you a parcel Fajita!!!

Years ago m made a patchwork cushion out of charity shop Ties, using the wrong side of some of them to get a bit of texture.
-
That would have been great, IMI.
The ties I have are a variety of silks. Some so fine, like tissue paper. Some a nice robust twill. And some loosely woven.
I have had a play, discovered that when cutting pieces then the cut pieces cand shrink and distort, made for a bit of waste age. Should have perhaps used a sew on fusible.
So far, this is what I've made. It's a bit of a mess, but if I back it and border it and wad it, it could be the start of something.

It looks good. <3 Love the fabric in the 4 corners.

Still on post-op dog watch duty. He has a huge scar, so have to make sure he doesn't damage himself. So whilst sat here wat.ching him sleep, I fiddled with silky bits again. This is today's offering.
