This is a quilting project which is making quilts for Ronald McDonald Houses.
I might give it a go. We had reason to be very grateful to them when Lilya was a baby.

Great, I have made quilts for Project Linus before and hope to make more in the future. I've never heard of RM houses??

Lowena, they are places for mums and dads to stay when their little ones are very sick. My GD had a stroke when she was little, and mum and dad had to stay with her for 2 months. The facilities are excellent, and it means that parents don't need to worry about accomodation when their babies are unwell.
A worthwhile cause.

I think that there's a RM house or flat at our local hospital, I never realised that they might use a quilt. I knit for Project Linus but this is also a worthwhile cause. Thanks b15erk.

I have that book! What a worthwhile charity. When dd3 was born she was blue lighted to Bristol and spent almost 2 weeks there, there were rooms on the unit for parents to stay and I don't know what I'd have done if those weren't available

Oh what an awful time you must have had! Yes this does sound a worthwhile charity to support. Parents need all the help they can get in those circumstances!

I remember Lilya being born and the awful times you had. It's nice to hear of you doing things with/for her now.

For those who don't know, Lilya is our little miracle! She had a massive stroke at 2 months, and we were told that there was very little hope for her, but she has amazed us all. The stroke has left her with a turn in her left eye, and she wears glasses (and looks adorable in them), but no other disabilities.
She's 4 in May, and as bright as a button. :angel: She started school last September (not nursery Nana), and is very proud to be a 'little Joey' (As St Josephs pre-schoolers are called!)
Manchester Children's Hospital, and now Alder Hey, have done an excellent job, and mum and dad strive every day to help her to be the best she can be. She will have specialist care for some time, but the appointments are getting fewer, and fewer. The eye may need an operation next year, but that has yet to be decided.
Lilya will have a baby brother in August, and I just hope that his start in life will be easier. :)
All the Children's charities deserve support, but the Ronald McDonald houses are invaluable, as they help parents stay close to their children when they are poorly.

Oh my goodness me! I've never heard of a baby having a stroke before how awful. So pleased she got the right care but it must have been such a difficult time. Sounds like she's doing very well! <3
