It's an ikea throw backing, cut out shapes held in place by cover shiny material and decorative stitching.
I should have sewn the shapes down individually. Maybe I'll do that next time I'm in the mood to be creative.

Gotta love bling.....and.... seahorses; I adore seahorses. Now if anyone can show me a blingy seahorse, I'll be their slave :D

Its reverse applique (or Mole) by a lady called Abbie (anne) Searle.
She lives in Wadebridge and teaches all over the south west.
I tried a class with her at Exeter, but really only cos it got me on a machine for a couple of hours.
I didn't much like the result...too bitty/scrappy... it takes great skill to cut away the layers neatly and the class at Exeter was woefully lacking on lighting!
.....and you girls know me and my love of scrappiness!!! hahahahaa
When I first started quilting, I bought her book and that pattern....
which I read once, but never used as I just couldn't hack the scrappiness.
I sold both pattern and book to some girl from TSF last year, I wonder if she came over to TSP ???
Sorry if its you, but I can't remember her name!

These aren't mine, they were at the quilting show at Harrogate in 2011. Loved them as soon as I saw them so took a photo for inspiration for the day when I eventually get around to making my own.

Oooh, seahorses, my favourite <3
Abbie Searle is well thought of but I'm not keen on her work. Messy, bitty, scrappy and not particularly well thought out in my opinion. She loves colour and trying to be too avant garde for me
