Standfast & Barracks in Lancaster used to print Liberty tana lawn and many of us drank from the font of fabulous fabric at their factory shop or katsfabrics on ebay.

We were inconsolable when they stopped printing Liberty (although luckily we had had the foresight to stock up on all the Liberty tana lawn we would ever need and then some).

I've just checked their facebook page and I see they are now stocking their own brand of Classic Lawn at £6.99. Some nice designs and looks comparable to Liberty. Goodie. An excuse to swerve off the M6 at J34 on next trip oop north. DH will be pleased!

Fun with Fabric / When did fabrics get wider?
« on: November 09, 2017, 11:27:28 AM »
More specifically, out of interest does anyone know when Liberty tana lawn went up from 90cm/36" wide to its present day 137cm wide? I've just taken delivery of little bargain lot of vintage tana lawn at 90cm width (I'm not complaining - it was a real bargain  0_0 ) and it made me wonder. I have one or two vintage fabrics which are 90cm wide and a bit of googling suggests the change over, in general, took place in the 1960s but I'm sure this fabric is nothing like as old as that - maybe 1980s or 90s.

Patterns & Fitting / New Vogue winter patterns
« on: October 11, 2017, 10:04:56 AM »
The new Vogue winter patterns are out on the US website. https://voguepatterns.mccall.com/new-sewing-patterns?utm_source=V1317&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=V1317

I'll probably go for the Tilton jacket and skirt and the Betzina jacket when they finally arrive in the UK. There's a Guy Laroche jacket which is split to the waist shown in the line art worn with norhing underneath. Vogue, what are you thinking producing this!! Just what you need to wear on the school run or Sainsbos trip, I'm sure!  :S

Have just read on Standfast & Barracks Facebook page that they are no longer stocking Liberty. Also katsfabrics (eBay shop) are no longer doing Liberty. Fortunately I have a huge stash of their stuff, however if I had realised they were stopping I would have added to it! DH will be relieved as there will be no temptation to stop at their shop now and have the dangerous dash over a very busy main road from car park to the shop.

The Sewdirect website is now advertising McCall patterns at half price so I guess that means that all the other usual suppliers will follow suit.
There were a few patterns from the latest release that I liked and they accidentally fell into my basket and scooted off to the checkout before I could change my mind....

It's a lovely day here and a non-work day but it seems as though we are waking up to awful news yet again -heart goes out to those affected by the huge fire in a London tower block.

Woke up this morning to the awful news of the Manchester attack and am typing this with tears in my eyes. I've lived in Greater Manchester for 40 years. It's home. Thoughts and prayers for all those affected by this terrible attack.

Another sunny day. Wonder if I can do without winter socks today or should I heed the ancient wisdom of not casting a cloot till may is oot?
