In the wardrobe / Perfectly Matched Bias Stripes I have to brag!
« on: July 26, 2017, 18:21:54 PM »
This is a Lutterloh tank top. I have had my eye on this pattern for a while. It is from the 2013 supplement 289.
Stripes scram summer me. I love stripes. And I am very please with everything about this top.

Patterns Discussion / Pamela's Patterns

How many of you use her patterns?
I have made two of her Perfect Tank tops ( going to be entered in the PR pattern stash contest)  Her perfect Tee. Which I lengthened into a dress And posted here somewhere.
I love the patterns themselves, nice weight white tissue with dark blue ink. Well drafted. Precise and easy to follow instructions with videos for support.
I also purchase interfacing and various other notions from her. I am usually sending them to a friend or family member on the way South of the Border. I always let her know the absolute last day that she can ship so that my "mules" can receive the goods. She has never missed.
Her patterns FIT, are well drafted and nice to use.
The first tank that I made, was a medium without the dart. I had to taper it down to a small!
The second I made as a small and it is perfect!
Anyone else use her patterns?

In the wardrobe / Design advice, Do Not Want to Look Like a Cowgirl
« on: May 11, 2017, 14:16:20 PM »
I am using my TNT Lutterloh blouse pattern.

I  am using a high-quality very lightweight chambray.
The back has this lovely crocheted lace insert. I have cut the fabric away from the circular area

It is really a WOW! shirt back.
 But the front is dullsville.
I appliqued a pierce of the lace on the pocket, sewed it on and hated it.
It looked like a Realtor from Texas cowgirl  top. Just need my hat boots and bling.
I removed the pocket. but pinned here:
I was going to add another insert in front like a yoke but two things stopped me

1. I could not find the other insert anywhere in the house
2. Talk about cowgirl
So, what to do?
Make bigger pockets with a top flap to add interest?
Make the collar a contrast maybe some of the lace?
Use wild buttons?
Let the back be the surprise and the front blah?
I do not like western wear. I do honor the cowgirls that opened the door for women in rodeos. And I have visited the Cowgirl Museum in Ft Worth, TX and loved it.
Just not a look for me, ever.

Patterns Discussion / Lutterloh! Any Lutterlohniacs around here?
« on: May 08, 2017, 16:19:05 PM »
Lutterloh! Lutterloh! Lutterloh!Do you have the system? Have you used it?
I make 99% of my clothing using Lutterloh patterns.
I started with them back in the 80s when I attended a seminar at a fabric store.
I purchased the system and went crazy sewing and mixing and matching pattern pieces. I was a slim size 4. My 15 year-old daughter was quite a bit larger. i could make on-trend clothes that fit her. And I have even made mother/daughter outfits.
Some of my boxes did not get delivered to MX on our initial trip, and my Lutterloh system was in one of those boxes.
I struggled with Big 4 patterns and finally gave up sewing garments.
Then someone on PR was selling a complete system very cheaply. I purchased it and have been sewing for myself since then. It only took me a little while to get back up to speed after a nearly 20 year hiatus.
Patterns are hard to come by here. And they have never worked for me.
There is a Lutterloh distributor in Mexico City and she sends me the updates.
I know that Ralph Lutterloh attends the big sewing shows in the UK.
If you use Lutterloh, or have an interest, I would love to talk with you!

Hi, I'm new... / Hola from Baja California Sur, Mexico
« on: May 07, 2017, 13:07:50 PM »
  8) Buenas dias all!
My name is Susan. I am a US expat living in La Paz, Baja California Sur. My husband and I sold our dotcom 5 minutes before the crash and our home 5 minutes after. We packed everything that we could into the back of  a brand new Toyota pickup complete with camper shell.
My sewing machine, tools, some fabric and my coffee pot made the cut of what came at once and what stayed behind until we were legally able to bring a truck of household goods.
Lucky for him, I found a small corner for DH box of clothes!
When we left Silicon Valley in 2000 the internet was in its infancy. There were no online sewing sites.
I was woefully in the dark for years. The fabric stores here were terrible. They have upgraded over the years, but I still need to buy goods online.

When I found Pattern Review I was amazed at the changes in the sewing industry. I made many friends from all over the world.
A UK friend told me about The Sewing Place and I came over to take a look, and take part and make a supportive donation.
Any Lutterloh users here? I sew almost exclusively with Lutterloh.
Looking forward to making new friends and keeping the old!
