I got the 201's out for an airing this morning. Hope you like them. I will post pics of the other machines when I have completed my chores....  -<

All of them with the exception of my beloved 15k have found happy new owners I am glad to say. I will hopefully have a bit of spare time over the weekend to unlock and display the current machines I covet in my cave. Most if not all will also be looking for new homes though I may just keep the current 221k, she has had so many new parts fitted as my daughter was wanting her. Then decided, once finished, she wanted a Bernina instead!  :S

I know it's a womans perogative to change her mind, but she is 13 and could have mentioned it a lot earlier. Perhaps when it was stripped or rebuilt for that matter and maybe before the reconditioned motor arrived or maybe just maybe when I had assembled all the attachments including the 221 darning plate and sourced a somewhat rare Stoppax embroidery and darning foot?  :\

Ah well. Now on the hunt for half decent Bernina  >:)

Vintage Machines / Re: Singer 15 knee lever operation

Hi Suessis. Just read your thread and as a new member have not been able to reply prior to now. I too own a 201k with knee lever and as part of its restoration I rewired it to use both foot pedal and knee lever. It was a quite simple and straightforward job and if you can wire a plug then you can also do this. If you would like me to post images and directions of how to do it just ask. It is easier and neater if you use one of the straight through power leads as opposed to the bakelite one where both power and pedal enter through the same hole underneath.

All the best

Im not sure if I am allowed to post pictures yet nor if BB Code is accepted here? However, currently in the household there are 3 x Singer 201k, a 99k, a 15k, a 221k and a 285k. I think that is all? Might be more stashed somewhere though!

Mr Sheen does a good job of removing sticky residue and is kinder to the ink too. It does take a while for it to work and it may need a few applications but it does work. I have been using this trick for years where people use packing tape on wooden items like antique cabinets when the key has been lost. Drives you barmy just wondering what some people think (or don't) when it comes to doing this type of thing!

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Newbie saying Hi!

Hi Brenda and thank you for the reply. I currently have 3 201k's the latest addition being a Tan coloured Aluminium version from 1956 that has been barely used. My 221k is a 1953 and was Initially going to be for my daughter as she is taking Textiles when she returns to School in September but after thinking it through we decided it might be a better option to see what she will be using at School, then replicate it at home. There are a few others lurking here also. A 99k a 15k (that I will never part with) and a dreaded 285k that whilst in stunning condition is just so bloomin noisy.  :o

I have just recently happened across this lovely place and after reading many threads thought it might be a good idea to join in the fun. I do try to sew but it's mainly just bits of easy repair stuff, but I am trying to learn new things and get to grips with some of the machines I currently own.
I love spending my time restoring old Singer machines, I find an inner peace when working on them and having them stich and run perfectly at the end is such a great feeling. Most find new homes locally and some end up online depending on the time and type of machine I have here that is ready for a new home.
So, if you have questions about 15,99,201,221K models I will be around to hopefully help you.

I look forward to reading and posting to you all.
