I'll have a look, I'm sure I have some cream striped.  Does fabric composition matter?

Barny, I read this earlier and it brought a tear to my eye.  I hope you find good homes for all your babies and that they are loved as much as you have loved them.

Take good care of yourself.

That, BW, is inspired! I will remember it for future WBDays.  We have a Theo, and the look on his face was a picture when he joined Lilya in a picture - dressed as a Penguin!

I have attached a picture which I don't think he will want passing round when he's older...

Finished yesterday, the Lily Poppins dress.

The top was made using Burda 5148 and I added the self drafted collar.  This was meant as a toile, and so, if I make another, I will raise the neckline a little.  It is fastened using a placket at the back, and metal snaps.  The button band at the front is faux, but has no buttons on yet as they failed to arrive in time for WBDay.

The skirt was made using the coat skirt of BurdaStyle 12/2012#156 as an A line base.  It is quite heavy as I used a thin cotton base to which I attached 3 frilled layers, and filled the top in using offcuts, so that the white base wouldn't show through when I added the pleated apron at the front, and the large bow at the back. I lined the skirt and attached both layers to an elasticated waistband.

The hat was decorated by Lilya and mummy.

Girls you are, as always, very kind.  It wasn't a difficult make, just fussy.

On to the coat and bag now!

That is beautiful Stitches!  Great use of some otherwise wasted fabric!

Well, WBDay has arrived - and I finished it!  Well, it has no buttons - they didn't arrive, but they are just for show, so no great loss.  I left out the back darts, just in case it was too tight - I always think things are going to be too tight, but I'll put them in later I think, as the bodice is plenty big enough.

Skirt is a little loose but much better on an elastic waistband, and I can take it in a bit before she goes to Disney.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with this, and Lil was delilghted - although she will probably be doing hand stands in it in the playground before the day is out!

I can move on to the coat and bag now.

A few pics for you - hair and make-up did an excellent job, and mummy and Lil made the hat. Theo looks distinctly unimpressed by the whole thing...

I made a huge effort yesterday after leaving work an hour early, and the outfit is very nearly finished.

I may have to leave the buttons as they haven't yet arrived.  I'll have a look at Dunelm later when I go for narrower elastic for the waistband.

I need to make a bow for the blouse, stitch the waistband on, and insert the elastic.  I can't attach the back bow as I haven't brought it to work, so that will be a rush job later before we go to DD's.  Oh, and I nearly forgot, I need to attach the poppers at the back of the blouse.

Very bitty things, and it would only take an hour or so if I was at home with all my stuff around me, but I'm at work, with just some odds and ends of habby to call on.  :(

Wish me luck....

That pattern is lovely.  Wish I had an occasion (or the figure) to wear it!

Look forward to seeing it made up!

No further on I'm afraid - work intervened, and my eyes were so sore when I got home that I couldn't do any last night.

However, I am hopeful that today I will make progress.  I have the plumber coming to the house at 2, so that means leaving work early  :), so I may, will get further on.

I did manage to order buttons, but I am aware that they may not arrive in time, so I may have to use what I have.  -<

Wish me luck.  :S

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: New Overlocker Best Thread
« on: March 05, 2019, 09:22:06 AM »
I too use anything to hand in the OL.  Neither of mine are fussy.  I got most of my OL cones/cops secondhand as part used, or from charity shops.  I rarely have to buy overlocker thread, and usually mix and match it (except the LH needle).

An exception is the latest Poppins frock, where I need hot pink stand out hems.

In the wardrobe / Re: Prima magazine pattern sizing

I've always found Prima Patterns to be very good, and easy to follow.  Before you start, just measure the pieces against your own measurements just to check.

I haven't made any Prima patterns for many years, but they used to be my go to patterns as they were quick and straightforward.

Mick, what a great idea, and very well done.  I think it's a great way to keep your old jacket 'alive'.
