Fun with Fabric / Re: Immanuels
« on: June 19, 2020, 12:13:36 PM »
Just an update if anyone plans to order from Immanuels via their FB page. They are clearly extremely busy and working very hard, and doing very well, as they are handling orders via FB messenger whilst opening up their physical shop. My first couple of orders arrived very quickly but I must have hit a busy patch when I placed an order via FB with the pics and details on June 10th. After a week or so of not hearing (and their messages on the main FB page saying they were working through the orders) I phoned up. It does seem as though they had missed my message and they no longer had any of the 3 fabrics I was after. This isn't a great problem as I have a huuuuuge stash so no harm was done. But I think it does show the limits of FB when things get very busy. If you are ordering via FB from Immanuels I suggest placing your order via FB messenger and then phoning up if you don't hear after a day or so just to make sure they've seen your order.

House Beautiful / Re: curtain fabric suppliers - recommendations?

It's worth a look at the Immanuels FB page as they are selling online. They are usually pretty efficient but they have just opened up the physical shop again so have a bit of a backlog on the online orders (ask me how I know!)

Fabulous @Ploshkin . And wonderful googly eyes too. Now you have 498 googly eyes left you'll have to sew them onto everything!  :D

Haha. It's a nice pattern but that sample dress wouldn't convince you to buy the pattern - quite the opposite!

Yes they said they would post some specials tomorrow! They also currently have some lovely Harrods polycottons at £1 pm with teddy bears on! They will be flying off the shelves.

I don't want to encourage anyone but the £2 pm cottons have reappeared including that one with the lemons on it.

I thought the free alibi notes were splendid. There's a place that understands its customers! Some nice products. Rainbow zipper tape??? Never seen that before but I'm sure I must need it.

Mmm nice. I'm going to look but not touch. A kind of window shopping or if I'm on my PC that will be Windows shopping.

I love flowery stuff and it's great to see the beautiful things y'all have been making. I didn't feel I could  enter my recently completed flowery shirt as I started sewing it well before the start date! Note to self: speed up with the sewing.

I think you know my answer.
I have 'Made by Tamny in Tamnytown' labels but I'd happily add these to my creations.

I had very uninspiring sewing lessons for 2 years at secondary school and never finished the sludge coloured blouse that was my project there. At the age of 14 I bought a pattern, fabric, a zip and thread and made myself a dress with set in sleeves, a long back zip, princess seams and a round neck with a neck facing. I cut it out and sewed it on my gran's treadle Singer machine which came to us when she died. It never occurred to me that I was doing something difficult. I wore the dress for years - still had it at uni three years later. After that I just carried on sewing and I haven't stopped yet!

Given that they are obviously very busy they are very efficient. And  the prices are soooo cheap. Even the postage isn't bad - a fiver for posting 24m of goodies. And the parcel will be with you probably on Tuesday.

Ooooh more lovely fabric! Get thee behind me . I guess it might take a bit of time to arrive (and there might be taxes - although that seems to be a bit of a lottery) but should be very nice.
