Title: The eclipse magnet
Post by: Roger on January 26, 2018, 20:10:34 PM
I found in a box of bits this funny little magnet... it’s slightly more than 1/2 and inside a matched aluminium shell... I suspect there’s a devious way to use it... but I can’t figure it out... but I do love the retro charm!

The Eclipse Tool catalogue (http://www.eclipsemagnetics.com/media/wysiwyg/brochures/ETNA/ETNA_catalogue_print_1.pdf) shows an E871 (cat no. on your photo shows 871 without the prefix) so I wonder if that gives a clue. The straight edge at the bottom of yours looks rather rough too so I'm wondering if it's been altered in some way?

I had a look on the eclipse site I think the numbers relate to the magnet size.

I wondered if it was called an eclipse because of the rotating cover exposing/covering the magnet eclipse style...

Strange item...

Nice idea but it's the manufacturer's old logo.

Spot on! You must have laser eyes to get so much off my pics :)

I’ll have to drop them a line... see if they have any ideas :)
