Hi All,

The Forest of Dean is not in Wales unless the border has sneaked east a bit  :)

Coleford is in Gloucestershire, which is neither Wales nor Cornwall.  It's where justpottering does all her lovely baking, and where my parents moved to after they retired.

Gosh yes - that is an outrageously rubbish listing!!  :o

From the 'bulge' on the top where the stitch selection slider is, I too suspect it is a 530 record as they have the full complement of ornamental stitches.

The cardboard box looks like the one the Bernina circular sewing attachment came in.

The 530 records were issued with a large complement of presser feet - something like 14 in total I think but I'm not sure offhand. If the machine has its full set of feet tucked away in the green storage box thing then depending on the price it may well be well worth having just for the feet alone. Also the 530 record came with the little buttonhole chisel and block as standard too.

I have a 530 record which I got for buttons a while back as the foot pedal innards had collapsed and it smelled like fairground dodgems when you tried to run it, but it came with a full set of feet and the chisel and other bits and bobs. I cleaned it up and grafted on a generic foot pedal and now it sews beautifully. It's a fabulous machine and one of my favourites.

Edit to add - I have just had a peek at my 530-2 record and the bulge is over the stitch camstack. The 532-2 did straight and zigzag and no fancy stitches so I don't think it had a bulge, because it there is no big camstack to form a bulge on the top casing...
(I'm half expecting Bodgey to pop in now with one of her ooer missus comments.... !.... no I have not been drinking but I have scoffed a blushworthy quantity of maltesers... blame the sugar rush if I am not making sense lol...  :S)

I have one too, and they’re a lovely little machine, nice range of stitches, good solid construction and somewhat under rated compared to other bernina models I was really impressed by mine.

The key parts seem to be there, manual, extension table, and a plug suggests the pedal is there, the accessories container too. The rest is speculation... but looks like it was carefully packed then opened and photoed.

The foot pedal is there, you can just see it and its 2 pin plug tucked away in the little compartment.
My 530-2 record does the nicest satin stitch out of all of my berninas  <3
The foot pedal on mine was wrecked, when I opened it up a load of little graphite (?) discs that had given up the ghost came tumbling out. I have kept the old foot pedal though, I meant to research whether or not they were fixable but I haven't got round to that yet.

Well we wanted a project, the Forest is a nice day out for us, we'll swing by Tintern Abbey for a picnic, and I reckon I can get my money back selling it in parts if the motor's blown  :)

Oh wow what wonderful news!!
Here's hoping it comes choc full with oodles of feet and the embroidery hoop and the buttonhole chisel!!
The circular attachment alone - if that is what is indeed in the cardboard box - I have seen go on ebay for around £20.
Enjoy your new machine, and your day out too  :loveit:

Just back from collecting the machine - weather wasn't very kind but we stopped at Tintern Abbey for a coffee, and visited the very good second hand bookshop there too.

Machine does indeed have lots of bits - photos hopefully attached - and was used by the sellers father to make reproduction antique police uniforms as part of his display of antique police memorabilia!

We most like won't be keeping this, just make it lovely and then sell it along - no great profit required just the joy of making it work again  :)

Isn't it?
I have a Bernina 730, and quite a few of those feet. But i I sell this machine on i might keep back the feet I don't have - I still think there'll be some nice feet with it :)

That’s a nice looking machine! And lots of lovely bits and bobs, the paint work even looks pretty good!

They’re also nicely all metal:)

They’re also nicely all metal:)

Apart from 2 nylon gears  :(
The stitch cam stack gears are prone to cracking, but you can buy Chinese-made replacements. The other gear is a drive gear. I don't know if replacements are available for those.
