Another costume.
I finished this one yesterday (might have to add a few more pearls on the partlet if the spots where they should be won't be covered by the bodice once the model wears it). We got given a design which is meant to be dress worn at a masquerade ball during the Shakespearian era.
A few details: I designed and screen printed the cotton voile for the partlet and the inside of the sleeve epaulettes, sewed the metallic braid onto the velvet (nightmare!) and also laser engraved the busk for the corset. The jewellery is made from all different elements, which I glued cabochons and pearls on and linked together.
There is a corset, farthingale, bum roll and petticoat under the outside layers. It is meant to be a theatre costume, therefore not fully period accurate.
Just need to finish a porcupine mask to go with it.

Beautiful!...lovely workmanship.
-
That is fabulous - you must be having a ball.

So jealous! I made a wonderful [ish] QE1 cos for a school play years ago, farthingale and all...and my moronic ex hyusband threw it away [because it got brought home in a binbag] I was distraught

What workmanship and talent!!
Just thinking how much fun it would be to take some features from a historical costume like these and build them into a current-day dress.

Fabulous! You are very clever.

Yesterday we had our Costume Show and we took some pics in between. Sorry, yes I am wearing a brown belt with all black as I don't own a black belt and I needed to dress all black for backstage... Shame on me! :P

I once worked in office relocations and refurbishments and our absolute rule during office moves was that staff must *never* put anything they wanted to keep in a black bag because it *would* be seen as rubbish. Didn't stop the chairman's secretary doing exactly that with some "very important files". She never saw them again!

Not quite the same thing but a colleague in an illustrious uni told me once that she had a box of student essays to mark on the floor of her office and a cleaner binned it Couldn't (or maybe that should be 'shouldn't) happen nowadays as we have to lock away such things.
