Title: fitting bra cups to RTW dress
Post by: justpottering on September 15, 2017, 20:42:31 PM
Hello all, not sure if this is the correct place to post, if not please move mods

Our dance teachers wife has asked if I can put bra cups into two dresses that she has but cannot wear because of no cups, she is a size E cup so needs the support. I have read up and watched tutorials on how to do this and I have sent for some bra cups, however........
If any of you wonderful people have tips on doing this I would be eternally grateful for any advice - the dresses in question are lacey, but not expensive or high quality.
Thanks in advance
JP

It's not something I've done, or even contemplated doing but "E cup" alone doesn't tell you anything about the cup, you need to know the band size as well.  If you go up a band size and down a cup size, or vice-versa, you stay with the same volume cup and it's that volume which matters if you want the cup to fit.  A 32E cup will be much smaller than, say, a 42E cup.

If not precious this is what I do: Client will purchase correctly fitting bra and put it on and the dress over the top. Now you will get very personal  - have warm hands! Pin bra into dress where you can - I usually aim for the top edge and the side seams if at all possible. tack the bra into place then cut away anything that overhangs ( from the bra!!).

If the dress is backless then you can help hold things in place with elastic that goes from the side seams of the bra, across the back and low round the waist to hook up at the front.

Be interested to hear how you get on with this one.
