Appliqué! I had a daisy strategically placed on the ass bottom of my Levis back in the day. Everybody thought I was being cute but I'd sat on something and the lil black dot wouldn't shift! Oh how I loved those jeans.  :loveit:

Why don't you just bite the bullet and buy new trousers?

You could always have taken them off rather than risk doing yourself a mischief!  0_0

That's not a bad idea ... but it would just involve the same problems as attaching a patch

What I need to know is more technical based .. Its not a seam I can easily  unpick (If at all)  and its in a really awkward place...

C'mon Lightsiders you must have come across this problem before

I think that hole is terminal.

A) i dont like clothes shopping
Put your big girl's pants on and make some.

B) Jeans dont fit me ... they are usually too big
Buy a size smaller

Ba) The low waist versions are hideous
Go for high waisted style

C) The Charity shops arent open (at least round here)
Online shops are still open

D) I have no money!
Speak nicely to HWSNBN

E) I like these jeans!
Unpick them and use as the pattern for your new pair.

They look like they're coming to the end of their natural life.  :(

I wouldn't consider trying to unpick the seam to do anything too complicated. I think I'd go for a decorative stitchy design thingy. Y'know, reinforce underneath and stitch sashiko-style?...make a design feature of it.
I've seen stuff on pinterest which has looked rather nice. Never tried it myself.

When there’s nothing to sew back together it really has to be a case of some fabric on the top or underneath in some form or other for strength.

On Pinterest there are some ideas with large denim flowers appliquéd down the sides over the seams.

I think I'd go for a bit of sashiko mending.

I was going to say that it's small enough that you could darn it with matching thread with a scrap on the side though it might end up being an irritant on the skin.  But now I agree with the sashiko idea.

Check out these sashiko examples

Nice soft skin-friendly patch on the inside, pocket (bigger than the original patch, so covering stitching) on the outside. Since it is at hip level, it will be easier than the patch on the knee.
Yarn down:  1000g
Fabric down:  29m

I did see by accident the other day, a video tutorial on how to repair a hole (it was a big one) at the side of the crotch.  I nearly looked just to see  what it looked like finished.
