Looking for a pattern
« on: May 17, 2020, 09:38:14 AM »
I have a couple of summer dresses that really needed lining but decided to make a slip so that I can wear it with a number of light weight dresses.
I am looking for a pattern that has bust support (cups) and ideally one for cotton fabric. I have tried a couple of free downloads but cannot seem to get the fit right.
Any suggestions on suitable patterns would be gratefully received.

KwikSew usually seem to have a few lingerie patterns but I’m sure someone will have a better suggestion.

What about making a bra slip... just make a cotton bra and add the slip bit.

Or buy a cotton bra and add the slip bit!!
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

There is a quite old Threads article explaining how to make a petticoat (slip) by starting with a bra.

Use silky fabric and  cut (on the bias) a four gore A line skirt (centred on front and back).

Attach this under the bra.

On the bias makes it drape nicely.

I have seen a kwik fit 3554 and a Butterick 6031 and Vogue 9015 that may fit the bill. I don't do bras so my thinking was I could line the cups with powermesh for the bit of support I need and for modesty purposes.
