I too spent part of my inheritance on upgrading my machine and buying a Bernina 570QE with the embroidery unit.  Nearly a year later I am just starting to get to grips with it but I am still finalising the Estate and have been researching stabilisers and techniques.  Having recovered well from my hip replacement I am now ready to book my day at Bernina on the embroidery unit.  I have several ideas of things that I want to do but in the meantime I am handsewing hexes and intend to practise small designs on the plain centres in some places.

Reads Brenda's post and thinks 'yes, sensible, just a pricey toy you wouldn't use'

Looks at Bodgeit's pic and thinks 'oh, I like that'

Exactly!  I'm not saying don't get one, it's just that I could think of lots of other things to spend all that money on

What I would like are the skills to use any old machine for free motion thread sketching/thread painting. :P
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.
