Rewireing a 201 singer

Hi guys hope you can help.
I own a singer 201 , it was my mother's she has recently passed so the machine has a lot of sentimental value.
It runs fine but the the casing around the light bulb is shrunk  over time and there is exposed wire.
I need to use the light due to a visual impairment but don't feel safe doing so with exposed wires.
My research has as turned up plenty of online tutorials but I fear I do more damage than good if I tried myself
 I am hoping that might be able to recommend somebody who might be able to service it potentially rewire it ? I'm aware it will probably be more cost effective to buy a new machine but I believe this one has life in it still and it has a lot of sentimental value so I would like to keep it going as long as I can .

Give Bambers in Eccles a ring and see if they can do it. They serviced and repaired an old Bernina that was my Mum’s - it probably cost as much as the machine is worth, but it was worth it to me.

I'd say it is worth repairing if the machine itself is in good order. The 201 is considered by many to be the Rolls Royce of machines.

If you use facebook, there is a group called Vintage Singer Sewing Machines UK who may be able to advise you of someone local to you who could help.

I was going to recommend the very same video, which I used when researching the best way to replace the motor. Eventually I bought a replacement from a seller on eBay for about £30. It's easy to replace, but do have access to a selection of spanners to loosen / tighten the nut.
