Plaids, Tartans and Checkered Fabrics contest - 01.09. - 30.09.2020

Welcome to the Plaids, Tartans & Checkered Fabrics contest to celebrate the upcoming arrival of the cooler season in the Northern Hemisphere or indulge in the love of Gingham in the Souther one. As ususal there are a few rules:

1. You shall make a minimum of one garment - it can be anything, top, dress, skirt, jumpsuit, trousers....
2. If you want to make more than one entry, feel free to do so, but submit them in separate posts
3. Please clearly indicate what pattern you used and what, if any, changes you made
4. You don't need to use a commercial pattern, self drafted is fine
5. Sewing starts on September 1st , you can prepare & fit the pattern and cut before that date
6. Sewing finishes on on September 30th , please post pictures by October 7th
7. You need to use plaids, tartans, checks or gingham as the main fabric of your garment
8. Your entry here can also be included in your 6-PAC

Thank you for the very generous head start on this. Several of the contenders for my 6PAC fit this category.

I have the most outrageous fabric bought in Charlee Girl's closing down sale and it would be ideal for this but do I have the courage to tackle stretchy? Prolly not.  :(

Well I know. All those roly poly edges and won't go where it's meant to when you try to cut it. Or worse! Goes where it's not supposed to and stays there!!!  :o

wrenkins, stretch fabric can sense fear.  Just approach calmly and handle gently but firmly.  Kind of like a puppy.

Confession time:  I've never ironed a knit.  Spandex does not like heat.  It will do stupid things if you heat it too much.
