I couldn't auto-log in about five minutes' ago - my name didn't come up when I started to type the first few characters - and had to go and find my password.

Have you rebooted your browser?  That happens to me when it has to be rebooted after an update or whatever.

I sign-out of the forum and close my browser when I finish surfing the net, but I never reboot - why would I need to do this?

That does sound like a browser issue - your cache/cookies/browsing history seem to have been cleared.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

This is standard practice for me.  Is the new certification going to be a problem?

If the browser hasn't retained your password that is more likely to be a browser issue.

Firefox does silent updates so it could be that. Alternatively, it could be that the address changed to https:// and therefore your cookie was no longer set. Most browsers aren't fussy about the difference between http and https but older browsers possibly may be.

I have deleted my old saved login in Firefox and see how I get on when I next log in.  No updates for me with Firefox as I am using the last available update for my ancient Mac.

If you're coming here using a bookmark it might be worth updating that too.

Problem solved for me.  I removed the old saved login details and bookmark.

Yep- I had that too. (Panic)
But I deleted my browsing history and tried again and it is ok (I don`t know if that is the right thing to do but it seems to have worked for me)

Can I please reiterate the initial post:

1. Describe the issue as succinctly as you can
2. When does the issue occur? (Always, when I go on my profile, when I send a message etc)
3. Is the issue intermittent or constant?
4. Do you have a link to the issue?
5. What browser are you using?
6. What device? (Desktop, laptop, Kindle, iPhone etc)
7. What OS? (Windows, Mac, Ubuntu etc)

Please then always provide a screenshot even if you think it means nothing. Unless, of course, you can't reproduce the issue a second time.
