Fabric from 2002

My friend gave me some fabric she bought in 2002. It’s 100% cotton, Mary Engelbreit design on black background.

Would you think it’s worth making a quilt from, or would you guess it’s barely got enough life left to make the effort a bit of a waste of time?

I have cotton fabric far older than that that I have made up and continues to wash well. You may want to test for dye run. I have been caught out a couple of times. Will I never learn?

I don't think that's an issue.  I have quilting cotton from the 90s .... that I used for napkins in the last couple of years.

The fabric should be fine assuming it was properly stored.

2002 was yesterday in old lady fabric stash years. I just sent a length of 1960s whipped cream fabric to a friend in Texas who coveted the stuff.
It's just fabric. We can out-think it.

Give it a wash and see how it stands up. TBH I wouldn't have given it a second thought.  :S

When we cleared my MIL's house I found some wool men's suiting with a WW2 utility mark on it and I made a skirt for work from it.
