I have a couple of yards of a nice plain cream fabric, however, it's 97% cotton and 3% polyester. I'd love to use it in a quilt, but it does have a bit of stretch! Could I get away with using it perhaps in something small, or should I stick to 100% cotton?

You'll be fine, just be careful when sewing it together that you don't stretch it. Perhaps starch it to high heaven as well (I hate using starch so never do this and not problems have been had but it would help). Just be aware when moving blocks around if it is on the outside that you don't accidentally warp the block if it is very stretchy!

That's a funny mix!  Are you sure it's not 97% cotton 3% elastane?  which is fairly common.

Either way, so long as you are careful not to stretch the fabric it will be fine mixed in with other 100% cotton fabrics.

Thank you. Mmmm , I might do a bit of a stretch test before I start sewing anything to see what happens.
