Vintage Singer 28K and 99K for sale (Scotland) - SOLD
« on: September 16, 2020, 15:41:23 PM »
I have a couple of vintage Singers for sale, collection only from central Scotland.

https://pin.it/1Kk8ILR

28K hand crank 1928 with lovely embossed grapevine end panel. C/w shuttle and 3 bobbins. £60

99K electric from 1956. Lovely condition. C/w original box and accessories. Connectors and plugs are there, but needs new foot pedal (had to remove as capacitor went!) £40

Both sew beautifully. Sad to sell these machines (the 99K was my Mums) but moving house and no room for them. Due to the weight of them, I would be looking for collection only.

Anyone local looking for a vintage machine (or 2)?

Not for me. I'll stick with my computerised goodness.

@UttaRetch @wrenkins

Well I've got a choice of hand cranked which is manual labour so no. The other one needs work so no again. No offence to @BlueCat they are beautiful machines but I've been playing with the Brother CS8080 i got from @annieeg What a lovely wee bit of kit. I can do seams without pins or clips. Just match stuff up and feed it into what sounds like a baby turbine. That's not even getting started about all the lovely buttony clicky automated goodness.

One thing, though, are old machines fast?

Connectors and plugs are there, but needs new foot pedal (had to remove as capacitor went!)

Removing a capacitor doesn't make a foot pedal unusable.  Indeed it's almost standard procedure now to remove the capacitor from vintage pedals.  A faulty/leaky capacitor will cause the machine to run of it's own accord, but as capacitors are no longer needed, they were there to prevent interference to ald style TVs, it's best to remove them.
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.

Depends on your foot control.  ;)  My little computerised Brother has a start/stop button together with speed controller and the foot pedal is still in its wrapping.

Brenda P, We couldn’t get into foot pedal without possibly breaking the casing. Don’t have time to send it in for repair, and replacements are inexpensive.
