Sold mine and bought the Babylock...it just wouldn’t stop skipping stitches.

So did mine until I 'discovered' the screw top left.  Never had any trouble after that. I sold to get the next one to get seam tightening, although I've never actually used it from the position it was set at.

Somebody loves it, sold.  Probably been looking at extortionate prices for new ones now.

@Gernella

The £225 the first one went for; would you say that's a realistic price to expect to pay?

It's a case of what the market will pay @TartanPaint, if you really want one and are looking for one then that might push it up, but they really are a one trick pony for me.  I only use when I'm working with jersey so a lot of the time they are in a bag.

I have sold one in 2016 and I think it was for £200, the one I bought after it, the next model was £360 (with some dealing with Russell at SMD,cash off to knock the 'extras' off.  Having had both I consider the 2000CPX the better machine (it would be wouldn't it).  I never seen to do as much twiddling, sometimes even just moving on  from one lot of jersey to the next without any changes.  If I had cash coming out my ears I would buy a Babylock, but for something that normally sits in a bag 80% of sewing time, I'll stick.

The Bernina 1150MDA, the overlocker I have, bought around 2013 was a demo machine at £485. Now that does earn its keep and although that's an old model now I wouldn't upgrade unless it died.

Some people love this machine and others hate it... I hated it, traded up to a Babylock CS2, there’s no comparison.

Are they really as good as everyone says @Efemera? Are they computerised? I prefer non computerised machines but........

I have the 1000CPX and I find it simple to use but again..........

No coverstitch machines are computerised, all mechanical. The quality of the stitches are great and no skipping. Buying one and several binders has revolutionised my sewing and I’ve been sewing for around 50 years!
I don’t know what other brands are like only having the two.

I'm of approx the same vintage!

Good to know the Babylock isn't computerised. I assumed it was, as my Texas expat friend has one of combination BL overlock/coverstitch with I think up to 8 threads and the overlock bit is definitely computerised. It's an air threading one, maybe Enlighten? The only sewing we did last time I was there was on the overlock bit.

My Janome 1000CPX came from a dealer in Kings Lynn, Steve I think, and I paid £250 for it, circa 2013. It was barely used, everything still in packets. Person apparently bought an embroidery machine instead as couldn't get away with C Stitch.........??? It's not without its moments as you'll no doubt appreciate!
