Collars and pockets

Collars and pockets
« on: October 02, 2020, 09:25:41 AM »
After much deliberation, I've decided to stick to sewing my fairly plain swing-shaped tops for the time being, but add some fancy collars and pockets.

So, anyone got any ideas for collars such as asymmetric, floppy, tucked, etc?

And fancy gathered, flouncy, interesting shape pockets?

@Bodgeitandscarper   Whilst I'm not a big fan of pinterest it does appear that the work has been done for you.

Thanks, @BrendaP , I don't like pinterest either, so I never thought of looking there!  0_0

I do like Pinterest as it often gives me ideas for things like this.
You could also try altering the neckline @Bodgeitandscarper to add a bit of interest and make them different.  Or different sleeves.   After all the fit is fine and you like them so make the most of the pattern.

How about shoulder seam plackets and buttons like the one in my recent Burda blouse?

What about a swing top with colour blocking instead? I’m considering this one at some point: https://shop.inthefolds.com/products/collins-top-pattern?variant=13803969871974

(Do scroll to the line drawings; their samples are a but poor.)

I've done a lot of colour blocked tops over the years, and I think I've gone off them a bit at the moment.

I've made a top this afternoon, put a collar on, and taken it off again.  It'll be just the usual binding at the neck then  :(

Thanks, just a shame they haven't put any proper clear pictures of what the patterns actually are.  I don't want to pay that much and not know what I'm getting
