Says they got machine from father who has a sewing machine business - why not ask dad if he can take it back if they want to trade in to fund a trip to Disneyland.

Actually you are probably right @maliw , assuming the story is correct.  If it has never been used a Bernina dealer could just pass it off as new.

Anyway I'm watching to see if anyone buys.   You'd need a heck of a lot off to compensate for no guarantee.  My Bernina was a competition prize that I bought with no guarantee with it.  Fortunately not been any problem, although I don't use it much and it's not a bells and whistles machine so not a lot to go wrong..
