Capt America is a comic book hero that has become a film hero.
That's as much as I know except he carries a shield etc.

SIL and dughter have a   'games' room where they have a giant TV and play video games and entertain in it so they thought a 'throw'  on a tattty sofa would brighten it up and use it for 'snuggling' with

I'm just designing and making it (they say they are paying)

Needs a few small tucks to make it lie flat in the centre but not strictly necessary as it will be covered by a star anyway.

Next learning curve is machine applique, I haven't done it before but will look on Youtube and in a couple of books - oh a couple of practice runs i think

Someone on the forum said they had a machine with lots of things that they have never tried out - well same here. (was  it @Lowena?)
Out came the manual and there were 2 possible stitch patterns. Tried them both - one was a zig zag and the other was for applique.
No comaprison on my trial run applique stitch it is - so pretty like a smalll neat blanket stitch.

CuT out the interfacing and pinned it on the fabric, carefully cut it out, pinned it on the circle ( I had to make a couple of small tucks to make circle lie flat)
Stoods back to admire my handiwork, Mrbeej came iin and said - 'very nice but the star should be up to the red not with space around it.
Huh I thought brought up the picture  and yep - he was right  :headbang:
Thank goodness  I hadn't begun sewing. New bigger pattern cut out but will do the final cut tomorrow.
I can still use the star as I was thinkng of making a cushion to match anyway

Star is appliqued  on. I'm very pleased with it even though I say so myself. That applique setting was brilliant. There are 4 small stars to be applied as well  but a lot smaller, hopefully I'll be able to applique them as well.

Not sure what I do next
Probably work out how to put the shield onto the background without having large quantities of fabric being sewn in one piece

I have attached the shield to background and have used batting between the shield and the fabric to make it more 3Dish!

Think it works but still need to do lots of stuff before i get to the sandwich stage

I found that my new needles have disappeared, I think they must have been re moved when it went to be serviced by the guy/ A pack of quilting ones and also half a pack of general use.
Does anyone know where I can buy some with a quick return please?

Ironing Press Company or Couling Sewing Machines - both got needles to me within a day last week.

Looking good!
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Bjay that's looking really good! I wish my machine had an applique function, I had to sew the centre of my latest project by hand.

And I am definitely NOT showing this to son 3 as he is really into the Marvel Universe (comic book heroes)  :D

Inspired by @Iminei Elvistoo's labels and a wonderful person  called Meg who has passd on to quilt in the sky, I decided to have a go at my own label,=.Well the machine does letters so I have spent a large part of the afternoon attempting a label written on a star. Sort of done it, bit lopsided but it is my own very simple label  :)
It is now sewn onto part of the quilt.
Next is deciding whether to do 3 borders - red, white, red or 2 borders - white , red
Tomorrow is another day

It will have a double border - white then red - looks tidier.

Can't sew anymore until new sewing needles have arrived. On order - thanks @Acorn
