The Purse Project
« on: November 04, 2020, 18:13:34 PM »
I just sewed my first purse for the Purse Project.  The purses go to girls in Zambia, who tend to miss too much school because fo their periods (and a lack of sanitary supplies.) They ask volunteers around the world to sew the purses and hire local women to sew washable pads & make soap to wash them.  The purses are meant to carry their pads discretely.

My first attempt has a few mistakes, but still came out usable.

I did another one last night. I didn’t make the same mistakes, but I did make new ones. The seam ripper was starting to giggle at me. But I ultimately got the desired result. Pics later.

I downloaded the pattern and was surprised at the amount of work it is.  I thought I might be interested in doing something like this to use up some quilting cotton but it's too fiddly for my taste. Kudos to you.

Thanks @mudcat   I did 2 more in blue. They are identical, so I just took a picture of the one.
