Some years ago I bought this pack of 26 FQs from Craftsy:

They looked so lovely that I didn't even untie them, just enjoyed looking at them until I found the right pattern.

Last week I found and bought this pattern, which I think would work very well with the fabric:

So yesterday I untied the FQ pack... and discovered this:
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Those are not creases, they are the design on the fabric.  According to the label it is called New Age Muslin by Marcus Fabrics.  When I look it up I find it should say New Aged Muslin and it is quite deliberate.

I am really concerned that if I use this fabric I will forever be thinking that the quilt needs pressing, and that would drive me mad and make me ashamed of it.  Having said that, the (few) examples I have found of quilts made with it don't seem to show the fake creases.

Does anyone have any experience of this, or similar, fabric?

What do you all think?  Do you think the creases would disappear when it was quilted?

And does anyone know of a range of plain fabric in these lovely muted colours?
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

I think they are lovely looking fabrics, and you have perfectly matched them to your pattern.

I have no experience of them, but your pattern pieces are generally small so the ‘creases’ should be mainly invisible.

That's a good point @fajita - the squares in the four patch blocks are only 2.5"

@Bjay - that's another good point.  The pattern calls for 13 fat 1/8s and I have 26 fat 1/4s so there should be plenty to spare.   I will need to buy the blue fabric for the applique background (which is wider than an FQ), so I can guarantee that won't have a crease pattern!  I could also get another fabric for the grassy parts, where the pattern would also show up.

The amount of crease pattern varies between the pieces too, and some of them don't have much at all.

Apart from the blue background, for which you say you are going to get something specific, I really don't think the 'creases' will show on the small pieces because you won't have those long crease lines, just very short shade variations in different directions.
Life's too short for ironing.

I think they are gorgeous colours and fabric are what they are ... Peeps rave about Moda Grunge which is 'aged' much worse than yours...
As for quality fabric in gorgeous colours I highly recommend Oakshott fabrics
... These are woven with two coloured threads (not printed) and you get a depth of colour second to none.

They are not cheap but are 54" wide( I believe)

I think my table runner is made from Oakshott fabrics, with a touch of Kaffe Fassett - and they are definitely gorgeous.

When I went to my first ever p&q class, the teacher was selling Oakshott fabric.  I bought a fat quarter bundle and used it to practise.   :faints:  (Pearls before swine)

@Acorn ... Spot on!

Your Table runner has a Kaffe border, Oakshott Petals and background, a lil dab of Indian Silk for the centres and A smattering of Anitas gemstones

It was a lovely make to make ... simple yet effective!

I love grunge. I bought some for summer weight pants. Yes, I'm that weird.

Kaffe Fassett does a nice shot cotton.
Hey Bill! Read the manual!  Hehehe.
