Since when did we use the Americanism eraser.....they're rubbers!
Since when is there a ‘use of English language’ police on The Sewing Place?

There's always new things to learn, techniques to improve, a different type of sewing to try. When the wind blows from the right direction, I hear quilting calling…

Now there's a slippery slope down into the darkside ;)

All of which detracts from the original purpose of this thread.

That's true but it doesn't hurt to be reminded that we are an international community and that some careless comments are disrespectful to other readers

There was no disrespect in this case, merely that I knew perfectly well that the word "rubber" means something completely in the US than it does here, so I used an alternative!

Better not mention the Aussie rubber thong then, very popular here in summer.

I used to live next door to a Canadian and we used to often refer to things differently, pavement sidewalk etc. In the end we used to do it deliberately just for fun and also to promote our understanding.
The trouble with texts etc is that we can’t t always see if someone is upset or just smiling and doing what my friend and I did.
One that I didn’t understand for a long time was a trailer, was a caravan to me.
