I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Thank you ...  :|  I love working with batik (the greys) they press so crisply!!!

The last block (yesterdays) was going well until I tried to put together the three rows ... One went ok the other not so much  ...

I was tired, the light had gone and I ended it with so many rows of stitches trying to get things to match that I eventually admitted defeat and took all of it apart ... poking a hole into one of the fabrics as I did so  >:)

So today Im going to replace that piece of fabric and (hopefully) it will go together correctly the first time round.

I have found that joining square in square components together is a bit of a nightmare ... Expect profanity from DDD later this morning!

So the block went together fine... I unpicked, and extricated the cut piece, re-cut and re-stiched it into the row and sewed the rows together with no problem.

Thankfully todays block was a doddle ... (so tomorrows will probably be a mare  -<) done in enough time for me to pop out and get the backing fabric...

Zelda is going to make this quilt with 24 blocks and add borders and asahing to make a HUGE quilt. I however know my limitations so am going to make a 5 x 5 grid ... yes make an extra block, add narrow sashing and a border and call it good

Potters off to find a good prickly crown type block!

This is my Brucie Bonus block to make the count up to 25 for a 5 x 5 grid layout ...

Im afraid Z is going for a super humongouos quilt which I cannot follow so I'll probably be parting company from her design after Christmas Eve ...

but THIS one is going to be my centre.

@Iminei for what it's worth ( and my thoughts are usually worth diddly squat ) I think you are doing the right thing.
I have looked at lots of Zeldas quilts and patterns and for me there's an awful lot of negative, background space. I know why, but I find it a bit boring after seeing lots of examples and it uses a hell of a lot of neutral fabric.
I'm looking forward to seeing your quilt finished as I love the blocks you've made so far  <3
