Sports zip?
« on: November 28, 2020, 17:15:42 PM »
Not sure this is the right place but has anyone heard of a sports zip? The dress i am making (a McCall's pattern) states i need a 12 inch  sports zip. This is a new one on me and google can't help, anyone any ideas. It is inserted using the exposed method and it is at the front of the dress and extends into a high collar so i am thinking nothing too heavy.

I've never heard of sports zip, but it probably means plastic/nylon teeth rather than metal ???
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.

No. I've never heard of one either.  -<

The only thing I can think of is a nylon one with a more decorative pull, as it's going to be a visible and obvious feature at the front neckline?

Or would it be a plastic one with chunky teeth?

I think it would as Bodgeitandscarper suggests. That is what is on our cycling jackets.

Thanks everyone. I decided on a #3 metal one in the end. @Gernella I do buy all my zips from the Zipper Station but find that their eBay store is cheaper than their website.

Last one I got (off Ebay) @sewmuchmore    had to come from the USA ,although considering the postage wasn't too bad.
