You can see them here.

The only pattern that calls to me is

especially the

the back.  I would leave off the pocket flaps and note that the hem is top stitched.

I like this coat but I have a feeling it's because I'm attracted to the fabric and it looks cozy.  And I don't like the vest version at all.  The line drawings are pretty basic.  I also liked the Sandra Betzina duster  V1756.

Nothing there for me.

Has anyone seen the latest 'pattern books? Just before lockdown I ventured in to John Lewis for some thread (needed a good match so couldn't guess at shade) I glanced around to where the pattern books normally were to see 1 book for 4 companies! Vogue, Simplicity, + maybe New Look and 1 other, I can't remember exactly who they were.  I must admit I was shocked to see what the pattern industry has come to.

A lot more competition now from the Indies @Helen M , I mean, even I'm buying them.

I like the duster coat but I'm not too thrilled with the back piece.  It's nearly as if they wanted to change into a shorter jacket.

I like the Claire Schaeffer jacket V1751, but otherwise no.

The coat pattern is nice though I have a zillion coat patterns. I quite like the Sandra Betzina duster but the back looks odd. The Marcy Tilton top I do like. The lighting is very dark in the photos - or maybe it's my laptop! A rather subdued release all in all. I'm not champing at the bit here!

Have you noticed that they are finally using more ethnically diverse models? I imagine they will have been criticised for lack of diversity.

My local John Lewis only does Vogue and Simplicity now. You have to go to somewhere like Abakhan if you want to see the whole range - though all my looking is online now..

My not so local pattern shop was always slow with the new catalogues and possibly still has last season's.

@Tamnymore, I am a coat groupie and might not be strong enough to resist.

@UttaRetch , the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing a very similar style coat on their train tour. I like it a lot, but don't need another coat at the moment.

Yes, big coats are 'in' although they are always 'in' in a British winter as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to make another coat this winter, possibly from a McCalls pattern.

These new Vogue patterns will take an age to get to the UK. The alternative is waiting for a sale on the US site and slow and expensive postage. Oh I'm an old grouch today.  :D

Ah yes the controversial Cambridges' tour. Apparently the red coat is Alexander McQueen.  The Daily Mail says it was a 'recycled red coat' which I suppose means she wore it more than once. I think I'll save a few thousand by making my own.

Yes it's a bit more ordinary than usual. I guess we aren't going to be making many party dresses this year and the pattern release came too late for Christmas makes anyway.

All the issues have been thin this year, but I think Vogue is the only line from which I might definitely have bought something.
