Hello,
I found this site yesterday and decided to join hoping to share and gain sewing knowledge and skills.

I live in Herefordshire UK; I retired from work 5 years ago, and decided to teach myself sewing from You Tube, blogs and books. I have always made curtains, chair covers and, made bean bags for the children. I 'graduated' into making quilts, first for grandchildren, and then for gifts. I find most of my fabric from charity shops, or upcycle whatever I can find. I really enjoy quilting and patchwork, but I do not follow any quilting police rules!! Now I want to learn more garment sewing. I have made a couple of shirts, a few dresses for grand children, 2 ties, and a few other bits and pieces. I am always keen to learn new things and skills. I like making felt and I enjoy embroidery too. I used to knit when I was a young girl, and crochet too.
I love vintage sewing machines too, I have 2 treadles that I have cleaned up, (a Singer 66 and a Vesta) although I have yet to master the treadle but, 2021 is the year to do this. I have 2 or 3 hand cranks that I have cleaned up and got working again. They are all such beautiful machines and, will outlast many of us and, the plastic machines that have inbuilt or planned obsolescence.

I will be making a 'Thelma' boiler suit for my daughter in the new year, so I will no doubt be seeking help and advice.
I am so glad to have found a UK sewing forum, it is like balm for the soul.

Welcome!  I moved from the very edge of Herefordshire 7 years ago, and know and love the area well.

This is a great place to be, and a bit of a sanctuary at the moment.   :drink:  :cake:
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Hello @charley and welcome to TSP.  It sounds as though you will be really at home here - vintage machines, darkside (P&Q) and venturing into the light with garment making.
