Hello from across the pond.
I have recently started collecting vintage and antique sewing machines. I am learning to restore them to stitching again. I am also trying to restore many of the cabinets that house my classic machines.
My wife has a functional sewing room for quilting and embroidery projects. So I get to put my machines to work doing small quilting and sewing "piece work" as we binge watch TV.
I have four 201-2s, four 221s and ten other Singers. I have a Pfaff 332, several White Rotarys, and several singer clones. Most have been functionally restored.
My proudest beauty is a "Golden Gate Exposition - San Francisco 1939" 201-2 in a art deco cabinet. Unfortunately a previous owner damaged the motor windings on this well loved classic.
Most of my machines are motorized but Several are treadle.
I found your link by browsing google hits while researching my latest 1914 Singer.
At 62, I am still working full time servicing Elevators and Escalators. I am married to a full time U.S. Army Officer who is in the Nevada National Guard. We have four adult children(1 girl, 3 boys) , 3 dachshunds, 11 chickens, and no room in my wife's 3-car garage.
We go camping with our fifth-wheel "toy hauler" as often as possible, (pre covid). We like exploring the wide open areas of Nevada with our 4 seat Polaris off highway vehicle. The high desert has four distinct seasons and the mountains are very close. Although camping can be more survival when it is 0°f
I have a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies.
I grew up as an Air Force dependant and retired from the U.S. Army in 2003. I have spent 10 years in Europe during the Cold War. Including several years at San Vito Air Station in southern Italy. I worked with a system very similar to the Large Antenna at Chicksands. As a young child at R.A.F. Larbrook, I remember playing cricket and making noise with my bag pipe.
I look forward to learning more about sewing machines.
I wish every one a safe and happy Holiday season. Apologies in advance for limited editing as the dogs want food and the boss wants me to work. Grrr.
