John Lewis Janome 7025 - same as the Janome 525s?
« on: January 04, 2021, 20:39:53 PM »
Hi all,

Looking to buy my first machine and had my sights set on a Janome 725s but there is no stock. I’ve seen that John Lewis have the 7025 in stock, am I right in thinking that this is the JL exclusive version of the 525s?

Thanks in advance.

Difficult to know if it is exactly the same but it does look very similar so it might well be the same machine. I see it gets good reviews on the JL website.

Although in less restrictive times you would definitely want to see your machine in action, possibly at a specialist shop, that clearly isn't on just now. It seems like a reasonable entry level machine. All my machines bar one have come from JL and I've had no problems. In fact my first sewing machine came from John Lewis in Edinburgh over 40 years ago. I got my Janome Decor Excel 5024 in JL about 10 years ago and I love it. It's in daily use.

Looking at the manuals for the two machines, they do appear on first glance to be the same.

Thank you both, I’m going to bite the bullet and buy it before that too sells out!

The 525S was the first machine I had this century (in 2013) when I started sewing again and its a good lil machine to start off on.

The thing about Janomes is they hold their value well and if you want to upgrade later on you will easily be able to sell it on for about 1/2 to 2/3 of its price depending on how much use it has had.

I started J 525S ... then to the J 4000 (Dont bother, several big No-Nos for me on that one including No adjustable Presser foot pressure and no opening door over the needle housing WTF???!!!) .. then to the A5 The Splurge ... Heavenly !!
and then I was made an offer I couldnt refuse on the A7 also known as the Splurgess ... Bliss!!!

So rather than 'I have measured out my life with coffee spoons' it's a matter of 'I have measured out my life with sewing machines' @Iminei:laughing:

My first machine was an Elna eXperience 340, which is mechanically identical to the Janome Sewist 525s (no surprise, seeing as Elna is owned by Janome).

Janome makes lovely machines, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
