Stained glass embroidery

What i have managed to do so far. The panel will be made up of 9 individual pieces and eventually measure 36 x 36 when it is on a backing. The design is from Embroidery Library and i have had it on my wish list a long time, decided to buy it when they had 50% of design packs.
Each piece take 4 hours to do and uses 5 bobbins of underthread so its a slow job.
4 down and 5 to go.

They're lovely.
How big are they? And do you use pre-wound bobbins, they hold a lot more thread than winding your own.

Four hours per square?  Hats off to you for persistence. Is the white background stitched? If so I’d skip the white bits if using a white fabric. (skinflint here).

It does look lovely though. Very impressive.

Very nice!

My embroidery machine won't take any bobbins other than its own, so pre-wound bobbins are not a possibility for me.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

@Bodgeitandscarper no i don't use the pre wound, have never had much success with them in other machines. Each square is 8x8 inch
@fajita the white background is not stitched that is the fabric you can see.

OOOOhh that is lovely!! Can we have a closer up pics please .. Also is the white stitching???

My butterflies take an hour and a half to an hour and three quarters to stitch out and are substantial ...
How hefty are these??

They’re lovely.  Hope you get lots of  bobbins wound first!   So annoying running out part way through.

What are you going to do with them?

This is quite a project. Will it be done on an embroidery machine or in free-motion? Also, what will the final product be (e.g. part of a quilt a piece of clothing, etc)?
You can't scare me. I taught high school for 32 years.

Another panel done today, not sure if i will get anymore done until the thread order arrives and i need to order some more, it is surprising how much i am getting through particularly the grey for the outlines.
When it is finished it will be a wall hanging although i may make it a roll up blind to cover my embroidery threads which are on a rack on the wall. Watch this space.

All embroidery finished and put together. I have ordered a simple frame to put it in with the intentions of putting it on the boat (if we ever get to be allowed to travel to the marina) opposite the "real" stained glass piece i did a couple of years ago. But for now it will go on an empty wall in the kitchen.

It's absolutely stunning, @sewmuchmore  !  I love stained glass of all kinds anyway but it looks so neat and beautiful.
