Darling ... It doesnt really matter ... as long as they are CONSISTANT !!

If ALL your blocks are 1/4" shy, then they'll sew together fine ... you will just have a slightly smaller quilt!

But Bravo you! (my blocks are always an 1/8th or so shy of 12 1/2")

Just be aware that if all your joins are a bit off 1/4", it will make a difference if there are different numbers of joins in parts of the block.  Imagine four squares in a strip and then a straight piece alongside them.  You will lose/gain 3 times on the squares and none on the straight piece. Other blocks will have differing numbers of joins in various parts and the designer allows for the joins in the cutting.

I ordered this today:
Serengeti - Leopard Arrangement Batik - Warm Black

I think that should work with the jewel tones.  The fabric I pulled yesterday is mostly my own hand dyed fabrics which I've had in the stash for over 12 years ... the last time I dyed I think.  Plus a few random purchased batiks.  Can't really start until my fabric arrives.

I'll need the time as the first block seems to have a lot of pieces.

So I made this block but am now confused.  I didn't realise I had to make 3 or 5 the same.  I thought (wrongly) that the star @Deafoldbat put up was the next one.  Am I right to think they are not connected?  I don't have enough of the background fabric and can't get any more as I bought in France 3 years ago

The colour is washed out on the pic, the background is a pale sage green and the pinks are deeper in colour.

Deafs block was part of the Guest BOM this year ...

The Mystery Quiltalongathon needs multiples of each block to assemble into a gorgeous quilt ..
They will be released every SIX weeks giving ample time to source your fabrics

You need ONE consistent background fabric and a selection of coloured fabrics each 6 weeks ... 1st was Ruby ... Next will be
Spoiler: show
 ????

You can of course choose your own gemstone colours for each block.
