neckline alteration question
« on: March 22, 2021, 20:02:06 PM »
In my practice muslin for my dress, I had to put in a dart in the center front neckline to eliminate looseness.  It is one inch, or a half inch on each side.  I retraced the front bodice so that the fullness is eliminated.  Do I need to move the bust dart point back a half inch? Thanks.

The excess in the neckline should be transferred to the dart.
This shows the method.  https://blog.cashmerette.com/2016/09/fix-a-gaping-neckline.html

Paper pattern must always go back to being flat.  So if you fold out a dart like at the neckline another dart has to open up or an existing one has to be enlarged to allow the paper pattern to be flat.

Thank you so much.
